Dear Friends:

As many of you know, we are in the process of launching an exciting new plan to ensure the future of our schools and to raise their profile and value proposition in the community.  We are realigning resources and personnel to achieve greater impact and will be activating our bold new Education Corporation to house all things educational in the Diocese. This will enable us to focus our efforts and maintain accountability while assisting our school principals, pastors and wonderful teachers in building excellent schools and improving student outcomes. We may well be creating a new national model in the process.

Sr. Joanne Callahan, who has been a passionate and inspiring Superintendent for many years, will be assuming an important new role in the Education Corporation where we will continue to benefit from her considerable knowledge and expertise. We are also in the planning stages of a national search to identify an accomplished leader who will function as the “Chief Executive Officer” of education in the Diocese. The search is being conducted by Carney, Sandoe & Associates, the largest and most prominent executive search firm in the independent and Catholic school space. As a key element in the search process, we would like to invite your participation by completing a community survey. The survey is simple to access and complete and will provide you with an opportunity to share your thoughts regarding our challenges and opportunities and the kind of person you would like to see for this exciting new leadership role. The results of the survey will be confidential and will be reviewed by the bishops and the Search Committee. Please click the link https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/DRVCSearch to access the survey.  The survey will only be available until October 24th at which time it will be taken down and the results compiled.

We trust you share my enthusiasm for this new education plan and will provide your full attention and support as we go forward. Our Catholic schools are vital to families and children and require our greatest effort and commitment in fulfilling their critical mission.

Yours in Christ,

Most Reverend, Nelson J. Perez

Auxiliary Bishop

Diocese of Rockville Centre

Chair of the Search Committee
