WHAT’S SO SPECIAL ABOUT ST. PATRICK SCHOOL...

We are a parish school that follows the tradition of the Sisters of Mercy, which helps each child reach his or her highest potential, academically and spiritually.

The St. Patrick School curriculum for nursery through grade eight is developed and maintained by the Diocese of Rockville Centre in accordance with the Diocesan Scope and Sequence and New York State Learning Standards.

We offer the core subjects of mathematics, reading, language arts, religion, writing, social studies and science.  Every homeroom teacher is New York State certified in Education with many holding Master’s degrees.  What really makes St. Patrick School so special is our devotion to our Catholic formation.  In addition to daily prayer, weekly Mass, sacramental preparation and retreats, our priests support our school by weekly lessons.

The school remains committed to the creation “of a caring atmosphere of love, respect and support through word, worship, community and service to others, putting the benefit of the child at the forefront of all it does.”

Governor Cuomo and lawmakers are very close to approving legislation that would generate an additional $150 million in scholarships to help families pay tuition.  Unfortunately, lobbyists from the public schools teachers’ unions are vigorously opposing the legislation and are urging lawmakers to fund only public schools.  Tuition-paying families need and deserve their fair share.

Without your help, this legislation may not be enacted!

Please take a moment to go to the NYS Catholic Conference website to easily and quickly send a message to the Governor and your elected legislators urging them to enact the Education Investment Tax Credit proposal.  Although the message is pre-written, feel free to edit it to reflect your particular needs and concerns.  By sending the message, you will also be given the opportunity to stay informed on this and other important efforts to help Catholic schools.

Thank you for doing your part to help get this important legislation enacted.

OFFICIAL NOTICE

Rockville Centre—Ursuline Sister Joanne Callahan, Diocesan  Superintendent of Schools, is recognized as an official with authority to respond to Revenue Procedure

(75-50) which was published in the Internal Revenue Bulletin dated December 8, 1975.

In conformity with the IRS regulation, notice is hereby given that the schools of the Diocese of Rockville Centre admit students of any race to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the schools and that the schools do not discriminate on the basis of race in administration of their education policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.

Sister Joanne further explained that the very notion of racial discrimination is diametrically opposed to the concept of Christian communities that our schools strive to be.  She also pointed out that our Catholic schools have always welcomed and have been enriched by students from various ethnic groups.
