7th Grade Physical Science

First of all, I want to thank all of you for being responsible and respectful learners. I know having class online for the week might show some difficulties. Please do not hesistate to email me, I will do my best to get back to you in a timely manner.

I will do my best to share links, post videos and pictures and share all documents that we would normally use if we were in room 206 together.

Please maintain all study and work habits as if we were in class. I look forward to seeing you in class again.

  • Physical Science Curriculum

In seventh grade, physical science is comprised of general science skills and inquiry, lab safety, the study of matter, how matter changes and the energy within matter.

We begin the year developing our scientific inquiry skills and some general scientific practices. We spend almost two trimesters on the study of chemistry and conducting scientific experiments to further our understanding of our new skill sets. The students will master the elements of the periodic table, model how atoms become molecules and explain how and why chemical reactions take place.

We end the year strong with physics. Here we will learn about motion, acceleration, force and energy. The students will explore the Laws of Gravity, Newton's 3 Laws of Motion, the many different types of friction, as well as buoyancy- just in time for some summer pool fun! In our last trimester together, the students will complete one last STEM centered culiminating project for the year.

The students will conduct one major project per trimester including our Science Fair Project due in January, as well as individual and group projects and laboratory assignments completed in class.
