Welcome to the start of a new school year! I’m very excited to be teaching 7^th & 8^th Grade American history again this year as well as 7th Grade Religion and Health. I hope that our year will bring outstanding achievement in academics, in community spirit, and in affirming our faith in God.

Because parents are important partners in education, I will work to promote close communication between home and school. Please check your child's planner to monitor homework assignments and projects. For updates on your child’s grades and general progress, please refer to Power School.  Daily homework will be posted on Google Classroom.  Other important information and updates will be posted here on my class webpage.  It is essential that students come prepared for class each day with all the necessary materials and assignments.  I thank you in advance for your support and cooperation. Honor Roll

From the SPS Handbook...
Honors Students in grades 7 and 8 are eligible to qualify for Honor Roll. Honor Roll will commence with the first report card. Honors are awarded to those students who have demonstrated a thorough and consistent understanding of grade-level standards in the 5 major subject areas: religion, math, ELA, social studies, and science. It is an honors requirement that students receive a satisfactory mark in effort and conduct in all subject areas, including Specials (Art, PE, Foreign Language, Music, and Computers) and personal growth.

Principal Honors: 96-100%
First Honors: 90-95 %
Second Honors: 85-89%

i-Ready

SPS is using the i-Ready Diagnostic adaptive assessment program to identify the academic strengths and weaknesses and opportunities for growth of each student. As per DRVC, students must pass 2 lessons per week in ELA and Math. There is a link provided on the page below with additional information about I-Ready.
The initial I-Ready Diognostic for 2023-2024 will begin during the week of 9/18. Benchmark results will be used to individualize I-Ready levels of instruction for each student.

Extra Help is available Mon.-Fri. at 7:45AM

Walkers​: 
If you are changing your child’s method of dismissal,​ ​please send in a​ ​written​ ​note​ to your child’s homeroom teacher in the morning. If you are picking your child up at dismissal, please write a note indicating he/she will be a 'walker'. Please indicate who will be picking up your child. Please do not email your child's teacher with changes in dismissal.  S.P.S. will continue to use the PickUp Patrol App this year to manage dismissal. Thank you!
